MANDLER RESIDENCE - Santa Fe
A Modern Adobe

This house is imagined to be on a multi-acre lot in Eldorado at Santa Fe, New Mexico. The general idea of the layout is to enter the house into a large open area that combines living room, dining room and kitchen. It presents the heart of the house that invites everyone to come together and share life. The overall simplistic shape allows to focus on well selected materials and well curated things. Another important consideration is to have equally large bedrooms that offer a lot of privacy, and are entered through a nook that allows for that. To give the house a visually open flow, and a feeling of freedom, it’s designed so that on entry, one can walk right through the space, and out to the back. The fusion of the house and its surroundings is one of the main characters.
Sustainability is an important part of it. The on average 300 days of sunlight make it easy to run solar and go off the grid (and power the electric truck:) For efficiency and comfort, the house will be heated with radiant floor heating in the winter.
The time plan for the project is for it to be mostly finished by 2025/26.
The views and appearances of the surroundings are similar to the below. The high desert valley is surrounded by mountains.
The images below are inspirational and demonstrate the general idea of what the interior/exterior will feel like. The walls are made in the classic adobe clay style with its warm appearance. There are rounded elements to contrast the otherwise mathematically gridded layout.
